What is music to you?

music-and-brain - Audiofemme

Don’t give up on your dreams, you never know where you would reach with it…

P.H.X.M.I

Most teenagers are more active when they are bored. I agree its a stupid statement, but if you are musically orientated then you are most commonly going to pick up some skills or undiscovered talents when you are not doing or working rather on something.

So you might as well just use them in your day to day life. It is like a baby for example, the baby crawls towards the television, stops for a while and is caught watching “a baby show”, spends hours and hours watching the show, because the show was meant to catch babies attention as it is a “baby show”, so this example is relative towards teenagers.

How Does Music Affect Teenagers? | Kids Cell Phone Monitoring ...

Baby TV shows were meant to entertain babies and toddlers just like music of all genres and art were made to entertain but not only that, to inspire or motivate them during adolescent times. Many people ask us why we listen to music or how it connects to our daily lives.

“It turns out that there is a connection between how the brain develops during adolescence and how young people hear music. Overrun by emotions and a prefrontal cortex demanding instant gratification, many young people seek advice from peers instead of parents when faced with difficult decisions. They aren’t doing this to make you mad; they’re searching for their identity.” says the Huffpost bloggers.

Music that is emotionally written may cause us teenagers to connect with the artists therefore leading to fandom’s and fanatics, because they feel as if the artist himself understands what they are going through. Just like XXXtentacion who released an award winning track “Moonlight” and Juice wrld who released “Lucid Dreams”.

They both spoke more about their heartbreaks and venting out their angry or generally turning their emotions into art, unfortunately both artists passed away. All we can say is “they be resting peacefully but will always know that they have a legacy”(reference to “flames” by P.H.X.M.I) in other words rest in peace to the two talented artists, their music will always touch the hearts and heal pains of many people.

Cheers to the beginning of Music Mondays

28 february 2020

“Music is art and art is music, they are all elements of a fantastic story” by P.H.X.M.I

Cheers to a start of a musical blog. I’m Omphemetse Nkge also known by my artist name called “H!gh-key” and “P.H.X.M.I”. I’m a South African blogger, songwriter, try hard singer, rapper and learning dancer, born and raised in Rustenburg, North West. At times I struggle to understand how my life functions because of how the world is and the decisions I make everyday. I’ve been bullied during my primary years and constantly disappointed my parents, but during this year, I’ve recovered, regained and reformed my entire life through the grace of God, meditation and self love.

The “MusicMondays” logo.

life without musical entertainment isn’t life

anonymous

To be honest, I never looked at music and art as a hobby or a career but as soon as I understood how healing music and art is, my view about it changed. I describe my life as a movie or a book, some chapters are meant to be unread and some understood, some are meant to be set free. The blog has sections, the first sections is about the Amapiano genre, second is Hip hop, third is about dance, and lastly its about the news at school.

In my town there are so many artists trying to build courage in order to promote their music but don’t know how. So I made this blog to inspire, Motivate and promote their music and art, and help them achieve their dreams.

Music promo: Kenwil is a young and talented rapper and producer, who’s music is incredibly interesting, his a laid back guy and is known for his original rap name “Rusty T”.

Tuesdaytalks Ep.2: Should we stop being ourselves because of social toxicity?

by Omphemetse Nkge

In the previous post we spoke about being toxic and what it does to ourselves but did they stop? unfortunately not. “The younger generation has a habit of trying to control a person’s way of doing things by using social media and its not right! they are destroying each others lives by doing that… life doesn’t play that way…” I agree, the 21st century is too complex then the other centuries, where every single person stood by the principal of living or which ever lifestyle they lived in. The present day is a lot different than the past. The way of adaption has changed but it gives no one the right to continue completely destroying someone’s mood just because you woke up at the “wrong side of the bed” that day.

See the source image

“Relax man, let go of that feeling it wont give you any justice I can recommend you that!” It all has to stop some way or another because its all messed up, there should be a change in this generation and that change must come fast. Being yourself shouldn’t be a crime nor should it be your death wish, its something to be cherished and respected no matter the circumstance. So are we going to continue to bash people for being themselves?

โ€œTo be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.โ€

Tuesdaytalks with S u n s e t:

by Omphemetse Nkge

So lets talk about why elders have a very valid point about music being bad for you. Firstly what exactly is music?

Music is a vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion. Yes exactly that’s music, lets put it in a more understandable manner shall we, music is therapy.

Image result for pinterest music

Now I know your surely asking me, “Omphemetse how is this pun relating to the point made by elders?” well the answer is, it actually is related to what I said earlier, elders are right music can affect us dearly because it is always in relative motion with our emotions and events for example, you are having a bad day and your positive mood changes for the worse, what do you do, head to your one and only best friends your earphones and phone, then you start to listen to either happy music, vibey music or relative music leading to a drastic change in mood.

Image result for pinterest music aesthetic

A change in mood may effect the people around you including your elders, that’s why they feel as if its bad for us, their point may be correct but their understanding or even reasoning is not. The main thing is that music changes our emotions for the better or even the worse, it is a coping mechanism to help prevent any stress or depression.

The right music leads to the right mindset and environment hence at the end we should understand how our loved ones feel about the music we listen to or make and the loved ones need to understand how it helps us to cope with the stories that are in stored for us in life.

If something happened where I couldn’t write music anymore, it would kill me. It’s not just a job. It’s not just a hobby, its what I love to do.

Is hate really important in our life?

“Music only flows in us when we are never understood the most”

Anonymous

The answer to that question is said to be a yes to most artists, now hear me out many have said, “I would like to thank my haters because they have been the most supportive people in my life, the more you be hatin’ the more I been reachin’…” and I don’t totally disagree to that, it is the best strategy to get more traffic in order to get more money I’d rather say its pure genius to do this, but it can be your downfall when it comes to your health.

See the source image
Artist: H.E.R

Artists are pictured as strong independent individuals who got everything together no matter the trails and tribulations, yes it may all be true but they are also human beings that have humanly feelings and life experiences, so hate can affect them too.

Must we keep the cancel culture?

To “cancel someone” has been characterized as the most toxic thing to do, it is mainly caused by the disliking of something a celebrity has done, and is it right? In most cases it isn’t, because what has been mentioned in the previous part is that they are human beings too and they are bound to make a mistake but if they did it on purpose or knew the consequences behind what they did than it should be called for. Overall it is the most toxic thing to do and should be stopped in some form of way.

What do you think about it? should it be stopped or no?

The black lives protest

15 June 2020

Why don’t you see that you are killing our brothers and sisters in this custody. When one person dies because of stereotypes, we all will stand against it and we will fight, we have had enough, as all lives matter its just the same for black lives too, don’t leave our black brothers and sisters cause we matter too.

Omphemetse Nkge

The black lives matter protest has gone world wide since the death of innocent George Floyd who was sadly killed by police custody. Since then, many started a march to stop all racial stereotypes and to show police that black lives matter.

“As much as we wish for our friend to come back we still have to do something about the police system and their stereotypes…how many of our sisters and brother have to suffer?! how many huh?!…all I’m going to say is they have to stop.” People have had enough of the utter nonsense that has been going on. South African’s have also started a march for the gender violence situation where Tshegofatso Pule, 28, who was murdered and found hanged in a veld in Roodepoort, sadly she was mudered while she was eight months pregnant.

Tshegofatso Pule (28) was found stabbed and hanging from a tree in Durban Deep, Roodepoort. Picture: Twitter

We all hope for the best, and hope that people stop their cruel ways and that many stay safe.

Creativeness during pandemic

21 May 2020

This is a war and we can win it if we work together.

P.H.X.M.I

The results of the CO-VID outbreak has increased as time goes, and sadly many have lost their lives because of the virus. All we can say is rest in peace to all whom have lost their lives and we send our condolences to their families too. Many have also wondered what they can do to stay active during this time, in that being said, here are some things that you can do during this pandemic:

  1. Exercise: Science has proven that the average human body needs to move their joints so that they can not be stiff or tight. So in that being said, go and take a jog around the neighbor-hood.
  2. Make music: “Artists can’t live a day without making music or not even being orientated with music around them, its hard!”, and that is true…if you have never made music in you life, then why not now, during this time of being, the more you make music the better you’ll enjoy your time quarantined.
  3. Read: Reading is normally supposed to be part of your life so that you can learn new things or imagine or create new things. The more you read the smarter you’ll get.
  4. Make money: “There is a lot of money out there and there are many methods to get some, you just have to plan, manifest it and make it happen now, not tomorrow, NOW!”, so grab your laptop and start your own online business, or even try out Forex trading.
  5. Try new hobbies: Go and try some dancing if you, yourself don’t know how too, or even try learning how to play soccer.

The 32 year old did his part, by handing out a drop of sanitize-rs to the crowd, whom attended his concert. He helped by promoting the habit of good hygiene to prevent the spread of the CODVID-19 and he lead by example.

We appreciate how at least some artists are working to educate or promote the hygiene of our country.

Many don’t understand.

Music can change the world

Beethoven

We are teenagers and nothing can stop that fact. We may think, argue and mostly envy each other, but we are creative and innovative. The majority of parents do not understand, and to my knowledge, they might never understand. The only thing that they have to understand is that not everyone can behave and fuction the same way because we all have different mindset’s.

The more we stick to our goals and dreams then we might go a long way.

P.H.X.M.I

Many don’t understand how the world functions, why it functions this way, why the human mind thinks beyond and how our bodies walk a mile away. When we are hurt, we blame the person that hurt us but never understand why we allowed them to hurt us. Our mind is programmed to think in a way that no other creature can ,but our heart is programmed to feel.

Interview me or view you

EPISODE 3:

During this interview we talked about how love has affected us as humans and how to handle the feeling of pain during break ups. Many have carried massive weights on their chests, but many have managed their weights. One of the people who survived this pain and judgement is a normal high school teenager like you and I, his name is Blessings.

Image result for roses
The roses are the wonders, but the thorns are the aftermath.

“I once lost someone who I truly loved because I felt completed when I was with her. We broke up because she felt as if I wronged her and I never did…The pain that I felt at that very moment sucked all my happiness and all the memories I spent with her down the drain, it was as if my whole world turned upside down making me depressed…Somehow I escaped from this dark feeling through my music and poetical expressions towards this pain, but what I’m trying to say is, when you are hurt, don’t allow your mind to bounce off walls and jump into conclusions that may never help. Love is a wonderful and beautiful thing that was created by God, just take time to understand it…and as for pain, it comes and goes with the ongoing arms of time“says Blessings who has always misunderstood the wonders of life in some situations his been in.

“There are many world disasters happening at the moment, but all you can do is look up and fight because there is still time to solve the problem and ask for forgiveness from God.”
